Introduction

Moonquake Media ("we", "our", or "us") operates the GigShed mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our App.

GigShed is built to be an on-device, offline-first practice tool. The design principle behind the whole app is simple: your music is yours, and it stays on your device.

Information We Collect

Personal Data

We do not collect any personal data.

GigShed does not require you to create an account, provide an email address, or sign in. There is no login and no user profile. The app works entirely offline and does not transmit your data to our servers — we do not operate servers that receive your content.

Usage Data

We do not collect usage data or analytics.

The app does not track how you use it, which features you access, which songs you import, or any other usage patterns. Your practice workflow remains completely private.

Your Audio and Your Work

Everything Is Processed On-Device

GigShed's core features — splitting a song into stems (vocals, drums, bass, and other), changing key and tempo, detecting the beat grid, transcribing and aligning lyrics, detecting chords, and generating chord charts — all run locally on your device using on-device machine-learning models bundled with the app.

Your audio files are never uploaded. Importing a song, separating it, or generating a chart involves no network transmission of your audio. This is what allows GigShed to work on a plane or in a venue with no internet connection.

Local Storage Only

All data created in GigShed is stored locally on your device, organized into per-song projects:

• Source audio you import
• Stems generated by separation (stored as a regenerable cache)
• Chord and lyric charts you generate or edit
• Lyrics you type or paste
• Playback settings such as key, tempo, and mute/solo state
• Beat grids and loop regions

This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export or share it using the app's export features.

iCloud Backup

If you have iCloud Backup enabled on your device, your GigShed projects may be included in your device's automatic backups (large regenerable caches such as separated stems are excluded from backup and simply re-generate on demand after a restore). This is handled entirely by Apple's iCloud service and is subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.

Optional Cloud Features

GigShed is designed to work with no internet connection at all, and all of its intelligence runs on-device by default. GigShed does not include any streaming, downloading, or lyrics-lookup service — it only works on audio files you already have.

The only circumstance in which the App may contact a third party is an optional, off-by-default feature that can send text (such as a lyric transcript) to a cloud AI service to help organize a chart into sections. This feature:

• Is turned off by default and requires your explicit opt-in before any request is made.
• Sends text only — your audio is never sent, under any circumstance.
• Can be left off entirely, in which case the equivalent work is done on-device.

If you never enable this optional feature, GigShed makes no network requests with your content.

Apple In-App Purchase

GigShed is free to use for your first songs, with an optional one-time purchase (GigShed Pro) to unlock unlimited songs. When you make this purchase, the transaction is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect, store, or have access to any payment information. Your purchase is linked to your Apple ID and managed by Apple.

Data Export and Sharing

GigShed provides features to export and share your work, all of which you control:

• Audio export — render your current mix to an audio file (.m4a) and share it via the iOS share sheet, save it to Files, or send it over a local Wi-Fi transfer to your own computer.
• Chart export — export a chart as plain-text ChordPro (.cho) or as a PDF.
• Send to GigScroll — hand a chart off to our companion app, GigScroll, through a shared on-device container (an Apple App Group). Only the chart text is shared — never your audio — and this stays on your device between the two apps.
• Project export — export an entire project as a .gigshed bundle to move it between your own devices or back it up.

We do not receive or have access to anything you export. All export operations happen locally on your device, and where they leave the device (share sheet, Wi-Fi transfer) you choose the destination.

Music You Import — Your Responsibility

GigShed only works with audio files you already have on your device or in your libraries. GigShed is a tool for practicing music you have obtained legitimately (for example, music you purchased, ripped from your own CDs, or recorded yourself). You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to use any audio you import. We never see, receive, or store the music you import.

Children's Privacy

GigShed does not collect any data from users of any age. Because you supply your own audio, parents should be aware that lyric transcription and display will reflect whatever content is in the songs you import, which may include explicit or mature language.

Since we do not collect any data, there are no special considerations for children's privacy beyond the protections already described in this policy.

Data Security

Since all data is stored locally on your device and we don't collect any information, the security of your data depends on your device's security measures:

• Use a strong device passcode
• Enable Touch ID/Face ID
• Keep your iOS/iPadOS updated
• Regularly back up your device

Your Rights

Since we don't collect any data, there's nothing for us to access, modify, or delete. You have complete control over your data:

• Access: All your data is accessible within the app
• Delete: Delete a project within the app, or uninstall the app to remove all its data
• Export: Export your audio, charts, or entire projects anytime using the built-in export features
• Control: Your data never leaves your device without your explicit action

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make any material changes, we will notify you by:

• Updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy
• Posting an in-app notification (for significant changes)

Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

California Privacy Rights

Under California Civil Code Section 1798.83, California residents have the right to request information about sharing personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Our answer: We don't collect any personal information, so there's nothing to share with third parties.

GDPR Compliance (European Users)

For users in the European Economic Area (EEA):

• Data Controller: N/A — we don't control any data
• Legal Basis: N/A — no data processing occurs on our side
• Data Transfers: N/A — no data leaves your device (unless you enable the optional text-only cloud feature described above)
• Your Rights: Fully maintained since you have complete control of local data
